Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and most people want to know what to expect before they book. We’ve put together answers to the questions we hear most often at our Kingswood clinic - from how referrals and Medicare work, to what happens in the first session and how we match you with the right psychologist.
You don't require a referral to book at Unbound Minds. If you’d like to claim a Medicare rebate, you’ll need a referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP.
Medicare currently rebates up to 10 individual sessions and 10 group sessions per calendar year under the Better Access program. Your GP usually refers you in blocks of 6, then reviews and may provide another 4.
We accept NDIS participants and WorkCover referrals. Our team can help with the paperwork and make the process as simple as possible.
We’ll ask about your goals, preferences and personality. Because we’re one of Western Sydney’s larger practices, we have more choice — which means we can connect you with a psychologist who fits both your needs and your style. If it doesn’t feel right, we’ll adjust quickly.
The first session is about understanding your story. You’ll talk about what brought you here, what you’d like to change and what support looks like for you. Your psychologist will then outline a plan for moving forward.
